2018 lessons from tosansreviews.com – My bookreview blog.

In saying my goodbye to 2018, I want acknowledge the lessons it has taught me from the books I’ve read, the reviews I have written & running a blog.

I had planned to drop a review every month in the year but ended up with only 9 reviews (not books read, not all books make it to reviews) – this alone was a lesson on its own

I learnt how to be consistent especially when it seemed most difficult. I learnt how to keep writing even when no one was checking up on me. I learnt how to keep at it even when the accolades weren’t forthcoming. It improved my discipline. Now I totally understand when they say, it doesn’t get easier, you get better. I’m better even though it’s not easier. I also know to give myself some well deserved accolades.

I have also learnt that things don’t have to be perfect the first time, they can always be edited. Most times, in trying to make sure our work is perfect, we end up being paralyzed into doing nothing.

I’ve learnt to keep to deadlines, I’ve also learnt when to be flexible with my timelines (no, not procrastination). I’ve learnt to hone my skills and put them to good use. I’ve learnt about finance from the book – Parable of the Dollars .

I’ve learnt about qualities that make me a better leader. I’ve learnt to be a better negotiator – Vendors take note; but I’m a win win kind of person so don’t get too worried.

I’ve learnt to cultivate the habit of being impatient about my dreams and goals. I’m not waiting till everything is set before I launch. I’m starting anyway. Got that from Working on a dream.

I learnt that running a niche blog (or any other blog) also requires special attention and dedication especially when you want it to gain traction. It’s like another business on its own lol. I know I’m behind on all the trends & on getting my blog to the first page of google; I know my concept of consistency is no where near those that advise we post once or twice a week minimum (I dint meet my goal of once a month) but I’m still very satisfied with the person that it has made me. The knowledge I’ve gained. The new skills, improved writing, promoting and lots more. Some people even call me to ask me how to start a blog… YES! I’ve run my blog for 3 years. Thanks for the badge WordPress.

The book that made the most impact on me this year was THINK AND GROW RICH, I don’t know why it took me so long to read it but I believe i was better prepared to read it when I did.

I set a goal for my events business, I spent some minutes every morning and night dreaming and speaking my desires into existence, I BELIEVED, I thought of different ways to achieve them, I prayed, I sowed, I was open to learning and Voila – I surpassed them. This was my write-up since about four months ago.

I just made a total of N??? profits today the 31st December, 2018 from providing Mystique world events and Decoration services. The plan is to do a minimum of 5 – 30 jobs and get a minimum profit of N??? and a maximum of N???. I’m super excited, I am confident, excited and super charged. I know I’ve got what it takes. I can see my profits tallying… Tosan A.

Rework was another great one. took out all the heavy weight about starting a business. I learnt to be wealth conscious too. I has been a blast and I was happy to share with you my reviews.

Things I’m still working on.

I’ve not learnt how to drive without using my horn at least 10 times a day, but at least I’m more conscious about it.

I still can’t fathom how much I need to retire young and rich, I guess it’s just about getting used to the numbers.

2019, I await your lessons.

  2. At least I can see a write up thats not painting 2018 as that scary devil with two horns and his long tri pronged fork..lol
Of course it wasn’t a perfect year for anyone but you’ve decided to focus on what counts which is a lesson I’ve also learnt. Hoping forward to a fantastic 2019.

  3. Thank you Ma for this piece…lessons from this piece will definitely help my 2019 goal attainment even though its easier said than done but then am left with no choice than to still try.

    Keywords learnt:
Consistency , Self Appreciation, Keeping to deadlines, Focus, Win- win negotiator and better leader!

2018 was just a bit fair for me on a personal note as I was only able to achieve 64% of my set goals but lessons learnt in 2018 will help have a greater and better year 2019.

I would like seek your permission to share the link to this blog with my friends via my social media platform who knows who is in dare need of this as a motivation to succeed easily in 2019.

I wish you a prosperous and fulfilling 2019!!!
