The book is a Christian read; It has nineteen chapters which are divided into 2 parts; the RICH & the RICHER Woman.
The first part – the RICH Woman – is a raw and vulnerable story of how the pursuit of money influenced the author’s life; not only in the area of finance but also in seemingly unrelated areas like her relationship with men, marriage, career and her family.
I needed to break the hiatus that was rapidly building in my reading.
I was struggling to complete a book! I mean, just one book!
I tried reading several books but stopped after the first few chapters for most of them; I could tell I was struggling. After weeks of hoping and waiting for this phase to end with me falling right back in love with my books, I decided to try something different.
I settled for something that checked all the boxes on the list below .
Read something light – no pressure.

Read something light – no pressure: This was to break the ice. My default books are non-fiction books on business, entrepreneurship, self-development and emotional intelligence as they almost always leave me with things I could adopt right away. This time, I decided to try something else… I decided to read a novel. The books that endeared me to reading when I was a kid. The kind of books that leave you light, smiling to yourself and/or reading for hours without feeling like it’s some sort of work.
Read something you like/love: I like a lot of my non-fiction books as this site will show you, but right now, I needed to check out other genres that I loved and which also checked the first box – Something light – no pressure. I remember reading so many novels as a child and teenager, and I’ve had a couple of them on my shelf which I bought but didn’t read (they don’t solve as much problems as the non-fictions do; and I didn’t have all the time in the world – my thoughts).
Read for 15 mins daily: I mentioned this in my post about ‘How to read more’. This didn’t work alone this time as I started reading different books but couldn’t sustain the momentum enough to finish any particular book, which is why checking all 3 boxes was essential.
PS: I read my novel in 2 days.
I have finally completed a book and broken my streak. smiles
Sidney Sheldon’s “Are You afraid of the dark” did the trick.

At the beginning of the lock-down, running was more fun because I had lots of company from my family and other neighbors who either wanted to keep fit or just needed to get out of the house. I was in the last 3 weeks of my running program (even after repeating three different weeks to enable me run easier) It was fun, challenging and humbling. You know when you get back home and you stretch your feet up all day not because you worked hard for it but because the run whooped you!
Wow! I am excited! I enjoyed a book that I didn’t pick myself! LOL! Typically, I wouldn’t want to be saddled with the commitment of reading a book chosen by someone which may end up being drab but as I am finding out, life is a mixture of good and bad; and to get the good, you have to be willing to get some of the bad too.

I came across this book when I was on maternity leave with my first child, wondering if the workplace would still need me when I get back or if it was worth it to leave my bundle of joy for the hustle of work. It’s been 4 years since then and I am still growing strong in the workplace which may not have happened if I hadn’t read this book. It is no ordinary desire that survives disappointment, discouragement, temporary defeat, criticism and the constant accusation of being a ‘waste of time’. It is a burning desire, an obsession!
It’s funny how things seem tougher when you take a decision about something or decide to make a change. You decide to lose weight by eating healthier meals then you get offers for free meals of small chops, pizzas and ice cream not once or twice and you remember you don’t even have to pay! You decide to help a friend and you find out that helping out can also be really inconvenient. It’s funny how there’s always a hurdle to cross when you make a decision or take a stand.
This book will teach you how to close the gap between ideas and achievements, good intentions and their successful completion. It will guide you on how to keep your enthusiasm while crossing those hurdles that seem positioned just for you.
